Okayama University 2017 Autumn Entrance Ceremony held

Okayama University held its Autumn Entrance Ceremony for undergraduates and graduate school students at the 50th Anniversary Hall on October 14. A total of 113 new students, included 31 participating in the DISCOVERY Program for Global Learners, which starts in October, began their university life.
 In the opening address, President Hirofumi Makino shared his vision, dubbed “the Makino Vision”: “Going beyond, toward a fruitful academic capital.” He also welcomed the students in English, saying, “I expect you to produce fruitful academic capital while at Okayama. Today you are standing here at the new gate of your academic life. Step ahead and Challenge yourself to achieve to your new theme.”
Representing the new students, Stephanie Lynn Petrovic, a participant of the DISCOVERY Program for Global Learners, declared in English, “At this wonderful, historical, and traditional university, all new students and myself, swear to devote ourselves towards the tasks given to us, and provide our full effort towards making a positive impact to our society.”
